When choosing between a laptop or a macbook, you really need to know how you’re planning on using that new computer. If the answer is only surfing the web or doing simple tasks.
A budget laptop or Chromebook will do the trick, Macbooks are way too expensive for that simple task. If you are a gamer or plan on doing some real PC gaming you have to go with a normal windows gaming laptop.
Since Macbooks don’t have the best compatibility when it comes to games, but it’s getting better with years.
But on the other hand, if you are planning on doing any kind of video editing, sound editing, photo editing or any intensive software usage then you should go for a Macbook, it will be much better, trust me.
My brother is a programmer and keeps bragging about how good a macbook is for coding.I personally dont code as much, but it’s true there is something about macbooks that makes it better. Maybe it only makes it more fun perhaps for work like coding.
I also do some video editing for my youtube channel and i always code on my macbook when i have to travel, so much smoother than a traditional laptop. Mac OS is simply flawless, and super fast. Why is that ? Are Macbooks really faster than normal laptops?
Yes, they really are faster for these specific tasks. And it’s not because they have better CPU, GPU or even more RAM but because they simply have a more efficient lightweight operating system.
Oh also, if you are doing a lot of writing, macbook keyboard are better.
Again, Macbooks are not only more performant, but more beautiful, they are much more stylish and light, slimer, better quality and most of them have longer battery life.
Unfortunately, that comes at a price. Apple is known for having an obsession with slimness and super light Macbook. In fact, newer versions of Macbooks are so slim that they don’t even come with a CD drive or internet port.
So make sure you watch out for that. Basically you paid more for less, way to go Apple.
Virus and malware protection
If security is a major factor for you, Apple computers will serve you well. Macbooks are much more safe than windows laptops and simply more reliable.
I used my macbook for about 5 years now and I never experienced a crash, slowdown or total failure caused by a virus.
Apple actively works very hard at keeping their operating system safe and up to date.
Normal windows laptops will catch malware and viruses no question, if you don’t have an anti-virus (which most of the good one cost money) it’s almost certain that you will experience some sort of problem in the future, if you are not careful.
Scary part is that hackers can hack your pc and you don’t even know it. Why is that you may ask ? In theory, most computers in the world operate on windows OS.
Therefore hackers logically are where there are more people to attack. Unfortunate for a normal laptop user, but that’s how it is.
There you have it. Remember, that you should always compare the laptops models you want for your specific needs and budget and not simply the operating system or the brand.
Main differences between laptops and macbooks.
Operating system
Macbooks OS(OSX) is lighter than windows, therefore automatically makes the macbooks faster for the same specs.
Like i said OSX is very good for running intensive softwares like, for example, editing software.OSX is more stable and reliable than windows. Also you don’t need to buy anti-virus softwares.
User friendliness
Macbooks are more user friendly than traditional laptops. It’s simpler to use and for most people, more enjoyable. But keep in mind that windows laptops are way more popular and you may want to stick to the operating system you know best.
Switching between Macbook and window may be quite a challenge for someone not very good with computers.
Future proof
Macbooks are insanely durable machines.
I still use my old 2011 Macbook pro for light editing or simply watching Youtube. The laptop is still insanely faster than the crappy other windows brands laptop from that time, that did not age well at all. It’s unfair to compare them. Buying an expensive macbook is like an investment. It will pay off in the long run.
Price
Macbooks are much more expensive and should be for those who seek the best of the best. Macbook pro can literally triple the price of a windows laptop for about the same specs.
If you are on a budget or want to be smart with your money. Normal laptop will do the work just fine, no matter what it is.
Display
Macbooks have the best display by far. Their IPS retina panel will blow away most of the competition. There are exceptions, but in general macbooks have the advantage here.
Design
Macbooks win this aspect again, they are much cooler and good looking. They have awesome time-less design. Apple is known for its revolutionary design and unique products.
